Travelling with a visa

You will need a visa for travelling to 89 countries, but many of these countries will issue you a visa at the border

To travel to the following countries you will require a visa, which you can obtain at the competent embassy or consulate, at the border or online:
  • Afghanistan
  • Algeria
  • Angola
  • Australia – online issuance of a free eVisitors visa
  • Azerbaijan – possibility of obtaining a visa through the electronic system 
  • Bahrain – possibility of being issued a visa at the border, and you can also obtain a visa through the e-Visa electronic system
  • Bangladesh – possibility of being issued a visa at the border for tourism or business travel of up to 30 days
  • Benin – possibility of obtaining a 30 or 90-day visa through the e-Visa electronic system
  • Belarus – possibility of a visa-free entry (for holders of ordinary passports) for tourist visits of up to 30 days, provided that the arrival and departure is by an international flight from the airport in Minsk
  • Burkina Faso
  • Burundi
  • Bhutan – possibility of being issued a visa at the border for tourism travel of up to 15 days
  • Côte d’Ivoire

  • Djibouti – possibility of being issued a visa at the border
  • Egypt – possibility of being issued a visa at the border only for organised tourism travel or through the e-Visa electronic system

  • Kenya – possibility of being issued a visa at the border, and you can also obtain a visa through the e-Visa electronic system
  • China – application for a visa via the COVA electronic form
  • Comoros – possibility of being issued a visa at the border for stays of up to 45 days

  • Myanmar – possibility of obtaining a visa through the e-Visa electronic system and in airports in Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, but only for the purpose of business travel, participating in meetings, workshops and conferences, and for transit. Issuance of a visa for tourism purposes at the airport is not possible without having previously requested an e-Visa

  • Mozambique – possibility of being issued a visa at the border for stays of up to 30 days, at airports in Beira, Nampula, Maputo, Pemba and Tete

  • Papua New Guinea – possibility of being issued a visa at border crossing points at Port Moresby and Rabaul airports for stays of up to 60 days, with a requirement to be in possession of a return ticket or an onward ticket
  • Rwanda – possibility of obtaining a visa through the e-Visa electronic system
  • Russia
  • Saudi Arabia – possibility of obtaining a visa through the e-Visa electronic system

  • Somalia – possibility of being issued a visa at the border for stays of up to 30 days

  • São Tomé and Príncipe – a visa is not required for stays up to 15 days, and there is also a possibility of obtaining a visa through the electronic system 
  • Sri Lanka – possibility of being issued a visa at Colombo Airport for tourism purposes intended for stays of up to 30 days
  • Tajikistan – possibility of being issued a visa at the border, or via the e-Visa electronic system
  • Thailand
  • Tanzania – possibility of being issued a visa at the border
  • Togo – possibility of being issued a visa at the border for stays of up to 7 days, possession of a return ticket required
  • Turkmenistan
  • Uganda – possibility of being issued a visa at the border, and you can also obtain a visa through the electronic system 
  • Uzbekistan – possibility of being issued a visa for stays longer than 30 days through the e-Visa electronic system
  • Vietnam
  • Zambia – possibility of being issued a visa at the border, and you can also obtain a visa through the e-Visa electronic system
  • Zimbabwe – possibility of being issued a visa at the border for stays of up to 30 days, and you can also obtain a visa through the e-Visa electronic system

We advise you to double-check the information at the embassy of the country that you are travelling to before your departure because of possible changes to the visa regime that were not communicated to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia in a timely manner.
