Children with developmental disabilities have different functional abilities, due to which they need appropriate support. Each type of disability makes the child’s relations and communication with parents, educators, teachers and peers difficult, thereby impeding the child’s possibility of development and learning, but by securing the conditions and support for the realisation of a maximum development potential of each students, their possibilities for achieving the maximum possible level of education are comparable to other students’ possibilities.Education proposal
Education proposal for a child with developmental disabilities is made by the Expert council of the Administration Department, i.e., the City Office, for determining the psychophysical condition of a child. After the examination of a child, the council may propose the enrolment in the school according to the regular programme or according to an adapted programme, exempt the child from admission or grant an early admission.If the enrolment in regular programme was proposed for your child, you must enrol the child in school. In other cases, the council forwards its proposal to the administration authority in the county in charge of education, i.e., the City Office for Education of the City of Zagreb, which shall, within a month, issue a decision on the education for your child. The possible outcomes of the decision are:
- exemption from admission for that school year;
- approval of early admission of a child;
- admission to adapted education programme (regular programme with individualised procedures, regular programme with the adjustment of content and individualised procedures, special programme with individualised procedures or special programme for the acquirement of competences in everyday life and work skills with individualised procedures).
